Huge, smooth, comfortable... E-mail

"As recent readers have known, FedEx destroyed the first Ste•••art Aircraft 8 that I got.

Ste•••art was kind enough to 2nd Day Air me a replacement. I just snagged it from the FedEx office and I'm admiring it while waiting for dinner at a local BBQ place.

For starters - this thing is huge. This is the first watch that I've owned that is this large. Roughly 46mm excluding crown, this thing dwarfs my 8 1/2 inch wrist. But it's a cool looking huge. I can see this being matched up with jeans, an oxford collared long sleeve shirt, and a tweed jacket, or a turtleneck.

But for it's size, it's comfortable to wear. You feel it, but it's curved on the back to where it's flowing well on your wrist. It's not super thick either.

It's also smooth in operation. Winding it seems like it's gliding, and setting the time is like moving glass on oiled glass. There's no binding or grittiness at all.

The ease of visibility is cool. I'm able to see the time instantly. Heck, I can see it without glasses, which is a good feature.

The strap is thick. Made of some sort of leather, it's dark brown and very supple for it's thickness.

Lume (based on my other unit that got munched) is average. I haven't had a chance yet to do a long term lume test, but the hands are coated pretty well.

I first thought I'd instantly dislike it. It's growing on me now. Of course, I've only had it for 3 hours.

More on it as I get a chance to post it." Steve Yee
